2024 Subscription FAQs
What is a flower subscription?
Community supported agriculture (CSA) is a farming model where subscribers pay at the beginning of the season in order to secure regular bundles of produce from the farm.
Brookfield Blooms subscriptions follow the same model, but with flowers!
Every subscription helps us plan ahead and supports a small, female-owned business. We're currently offering the following weekly subscription options:
Early Spring: 6 weeks of fancy peony-style tulips, specialty viola/pansies, Icelandic poppies (my favorites!), anemone, hellebores, heirloom narcissus and more.
Late Spring: 6 weeks featuring some of your classic favorites (peonies! ranunculus! snapdragons!) and some new offerings: phlox, sweet William, scoop scabiosa campanula, stock and more!
Fall: 6 weeks of beautiful, local flowers, such as dahlias, celosia, speciality sunflowers and more!
Flora-Flex: Giving a gift? This 3, 6 or 10 week flexible flower subscription is our most giftable option, as recipients can choose their delivery dates.
Why local flowers?
Did you know that 80% of US flowers are imported from other countries? That's a lot of carbon emissions. Plus, they're often doused in pesticides just to make it through customs.
Here at Brookfield Blooms, we truly believe that Just like local produce, local flowers are simply...better. Better for the pollinators, better for the environment, better for the economy. Plus, you'll find buying local brings you some unique flowers that you won't find in the grocery store, simply because they won't survive the shipping process.
What will my subscription look like?
Each week will be a surprise based on what Mother Nature decides to bring us. Bouquet size/presentation may vary by week as the days get warmer and our flower selection changes. While you may get 2 cute bud vases loaded with exquisite petite stems (pansies/anemone) one week, the next you might receive a wrapped bouquet of fancy tulips or a mixed bouquet of poppies and heirloom narcissus.
Here are a few things we’re growing for 2025:
Heirloom Narcissus
Peony Tulips
Icelandic Poppies
Ranunculus
Anemones
Dahlias
Specialty sunflowers
Snapdragons
Specialty Pansies/Viola
How will I get my flowers?
We offer free pickup at a central location in the Mt Washington/Roland Park area. We will update you with specific pickup days and locations as soon as they are finalized.
We also offer delivery ($10/week) within a 30 minute radius of Roland Park. If you’re not sure if you fall in our radius, please shoot us an email: alana@brookfield-blooms.com
What if I am away/have to miss a week?
Unfortunately, we cannot change pickup dates or hold bouquets. For pickup customers, we recommend you have a friend or family member pick up your share. If you are a delivery customer and need us to deliver to a different address, please make sure to email us in advance.
Can I give this as a gift?
Of course! We designed our Flora-Flex subscription specifically for gifting, as the recipient can choose their delivery weeks.
Please only select our standard subscription offerings as gifts unless you are 100% certain the recipient will be home/available during the subscription period.
As a very small business at the whims of Mother Nature and our two young boys, we can no longer accommodate changes to our regular subscription due to customer scheduling conflicts.
When will I get my flowers?
Depending on mother nature’s whims, your spring subscription should start some time in April, summer subscriptions should begin in late July and fall subscriptions should begin in September. We’ll be in touch via email with all the specifics as soon as we have flowers available.
Do you offer refunds?
As farmers, we are entirely at the mercy of Mother Nature and thus cannot offer refunds. While we try our hardest to ensure you receive your flowers each week, we can not take responsibility for crop loss do to extreme weather, natural disasters, etc. By signing up for our subscription, you are sharing in the risk and rewards of our growing season, and we truly appreciate it.
